Green Aluminium
Following years of intensive research within Gulf Extrusions, alloys made from recycled aluminium have now become a fact. The purpose to all this is to contribute to large-scale reduction in the consumption of raw materials. By remelting aluminium systematically and processing it into new alloys, we contribute to the reduction of 60% to 80% of CO2 emissions in comparison to exploiting primary aluminium.
Sustainability Drive At Gulf Extrusions
From site location, design, and construction to operation, maintenance, and removal; Gulf Extrusions strives to increase efficiency in the use of fewer natural resources while reducing impact on people’s health and on the environment. Gulf Extrusions has been on the path of sustainable development through the years by taking initiatives in various areas such as:
Labour Rights
At Gulf Extrusions, the health and safety of our employees is our first priority. Across all operations, we proactively and continuously identify and mitigate all occupational hazards, and aim to engage all our employees in this effort. We apply a hierarchy of controls in order to eliminate hazards wherever possible and minimize the risk of those that cannot be eliminated entirely.
We operate according to occupational health and safety management systems developed in accordance with international guidelines. We also conduct frequent occupational and safety awareness programs to educate, create awareness, and continuously improve on equipment safety measures.
Climate Change Awareness
We have organized several workshops and seminars for employees, stakeholders, and the local community to raise awareness about climate change, its causes, and potential solutions. These programs have highlighted the role of aluminium extrusion companies in contributing to climate change and the steps being taken to mitigate these impacts.
Women Rights
Since its inception, Gulfex has steadfastly championed women rights. Through women empowerment activities such as education and equal employment opportunities, we provide progressive work opportunities for women with a spectrum of priorities. We consider it our social responsibility to actively strive for gender parity on a global scale, and we are committed to creating consistent, reliable, and fair income opportunities for women in the construction sector.
Carbon Footprint & Co2 Emission
At Gulf extrusions, we ensure compliance with environmental regulations and actively participate in advocating for policies that promote sustainability and emission reduction. We are constantly striving to implement energy-efficient technologies and processes to significantly reduce energy consumption and, consequently, carbon emissions.
This includes optimizing production lines, using energy-efficient equipment, and adopting renewable energy sources like solar or wind power for manufacturing operations. We also encourage the use of recycled aluminium as well as collaborate with suppliers to ensure sustainable sourcing of raw materials, so as to reduce the energy-intensive extraction processes.
Promoting a circular economy approach by collecting and recycling aluminium scrap or post-consumer products minimizes waste and lowers the carbon footprint of the company. We have also invested in advanced technologies to minimize CO2 emissions during the extrusion process.
Environment Conservation
Our corporate social initiatives reflect our commitment to following the visionary path laid by Sheikh Zayed. We aim to safeguard the UAE’s rich cultural heritage, and champion environmental conservation. We constantly monitor the environmental impact of every facet of our operations and apply cost-efficient means to reduce our use of natural resources.
In alignment with these objectives, we employ recycled “scrap” aluminium and implement water recycling alongside diverse energy-saving practices. This approach enables us to manufacture environmentally friendly “green” aluminium profiles that adhere to rigorous sustainability standards, meeting the stringent requirements specified for prominent projects like Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City and Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center.
Child Protection
We strictly prohibit the hiring of underage workers within the company’s operations, and have also implemented a supplier code of conduct that includes provisions for prohibiting child labor in the supply chain. Gulfex conducts regular audits and due diligence checks throughout the supply chain to ensure compliance with child labor laws and regulations. This involves assessing suppliers, subcontractors, and other business partners to verify their commitment to child protection.
Encouraging Young Generation
We are committed to nurturing a future workforce that creates a sustainable knowledge-based economy and supports the nation’s socio-economic development plans. Towards that end, we want young people to study and pursue careers in STEM fields, and become leading talents in science who think strategically and execute unconventionally, ensuring the UAE remains a thriving energy force in the market. Through our various programs, we aim to inspire young people to study and pursue careers in STEM.
