The use of aluminium in energy and power applications is driven by its excellent thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. Alloys from the 1 series are commonly used for energy, while those from the 3, 5, and 6 series are preferred for thermal management. In addition to its conductivity, aluminium offers advantages such as lightweight, a high strength-to-weight ratio, and strong corrosion resistance, making it a superior choice over many other materials. Although the aluminium’s volume thermal conductivity is less as compared to copper; the extrudability of aluminum allows versatility in the design of aluminum profiles. Configurations well suited for heat dissipation are produced quite economically. Extruded sections are also color anodized to increase the emission capacity of the radiating surfaces.
